High temperature thermoplastic and polycarbonate ABS alternative
XIRAN® improves the thermal characteristics of various plastics, enabling applications with high temperature thermoplastics characteristics. The Vicat/HDT of these high temperature thermoplastics can be increased with for example a 5 to 30 ºC, dependant on the XIRAN®content and thermoplastic blend.
ABS is a good example: polycarbonate resin is used in ABS to get high temperature thermoplastic performance. The polycarbonate ABS blend is at this moment most commonly used when the Vicat/HDT of standard ABS is not meeting the application requirements. Polyscope offers two solutions:
- XIRAN® SM grades: a Xiran/ABS blend, targeted as polycarbonate abs alternative at a high temperature thermoplastic performing ABS. This polycarbonate ABS alternative is offered as a XIRAN® SM compound.
- XIRAN® SZ as neat resin offering compounders the possibility of their own customized polycarbonate ABS alternative. XIRAN® SZ is the alternative to polycarbonate resin targeting at improvement of the high temperature thermoplastic performance of ABS.
