Heat improvement
XIRAN® is a styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) co-polymer which has been proven to act as heat booster for various plastics. Its heat boosting functionality is mainly based on:
- High glass transition temperature (Tg = 145-175 ºC)
- Excellent compatibility with wide range of plastics due to its adjustable polarity.
XIRAN® increases the HDT, Vicat and improves thermal dimensional stability. XIRAN® is available in several grades with varying maleic anhydride content and molecular weight, offering customised solutions. Examples of high temperature thermoplastics are high heat ABS, PMMA, PVC. The thermal properties can be customised; f.e. the Vicat of the ABS thermoplastic can set up to 120 ºC and even higher, keeping typical ABS properties like good processability.
